The week gets jump started with an ice breaking confidence course. Other activities include an aerial ladder climb, search and rescue techniques, vehicle extrication, and working with hose lines while suited up in protective firefighting gear and breathing apparatus. The young women also have the chance to become CPR certified. The highlight of the week is a live fire exercise. Just like real firefighters, the young women will participate in team building and camaraderie.
Young women ages 15-19 have an opportunity to try on a career as a firefighter at Summer Heat 2017. Summer Heat is a unique experience that provides hands-on sampling of one of today’s most highly rated career choices. The camp is also committed to providing these young women with the prospect to develop leadership skills, community awareness and lasting friendships while broadening their problem solving abilities
